This is a scenic trip into the Hohe Tauern National Park, on the High Alpine Road, which leads to the glacial base of Austria’s highest mountain, the Grossglockner (3798m). Marvel en route the spectacular scenery of the area and the incredible engineering feat of the Grossglockner road. The Grossglockner High Alpine Road has been an incomparable experience for about fifty million visitors since 1935. On the ascent from 1,500m to the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe, you pass through all of the vegetation zones from the cornfields to the eternal ice. There will be opportunities to photograph this amazing road, alpine scenery and wildlife, as well as learn more about them in Visitors' Center Exhibitions at the Franz-Josefs Höhe (free of charge).
